Waxes-Paraffin

These are colourless, odourless waxes produced and refined as a by-product of the oil refining process. They are all solid at room temperature and melt at temperatures between 40 and 71 degrees celcius. There are various different types of waxes used in different purposes e.g. cardboard box coatings, glossy magazine pages, chewing gum and medicines, but the wax most suitable for candlemaking melt at 57 to 60 degrees. Paraffin wax can either be obtained in pure form or with products like stearin already added for convenience.
